It’s the most wonderful time of the year (almost!) and one of my favourite parts of the Eroticon build up is the series of online Meet and Greet posts by organisers, speakers a delegates. These get me all excited to catch up with people I already know, as well as meet new people, and I think these posts give us a different insight into the person behind the blog or Twitter account which I where I’d usually interact or lurk from a distance (in a non-sinister way of course!). The organising committee have come up with some fun and difficult questions (most difficult being to pick a song for a playlist, which is excruciatingly hard, and I will wake up each morning remembering songs I will have forgotten to consider).
Without further ado, here is my Meet and Greet post. Please do come up and say hello over the weekend, and I will try and do the same to many of you!
NAME (and Twitter if you have one)
What are you most looking forward to about Eroticon 2018?
Firstly, I am excited about not being so nervous! Last year was my first time at Eroticon, and although I was buzzing with excitement, I was also very nervous. I wasn’t an experienced blogger (I still don’t feel as if I am one now) and I had met no one who would be attending before. So I am looking forward to familiar faces (even if I do only see them once or twice a year) as well as meeting new people I have interacted with on Twitter and otherwise.
Secondly, I am excited to learn a lot from the packed programme of talks. I am really looking forward to sessions from Eroticon organisers Molly and Michael (Photography skills and Tech for Blogging Success) as I am experimenting more with my visual content, and am always happy for advice on things related to self hosting. I am also especially interested in Lori Smith’s History of the Bra. Last year, I went to the V&A Underwear exhibition during the two glorious days I had post- Eroticon and I really enjoyed it. I am quite a history geek and underwear enthusiast (I wear it most days…!), and as such think this is the perfect combination for me! But there is a such a packed scheduled of talks, I still haven’t narrowed down my final schedule for the weekend.
We are creating a play list of songs for the Friday Night Meet and Greet. Nominate one song that you would like us to add to the play list and tell us why you picked that song
Oh goodness, this is a hard question. Not wanting to go for the obvious (anything by Marvin Gaye or Paul Simon, Laid by James or You’re Gorgeous by Babybird) I’ll decide to opt for Jessie’s Girl- Rick Springfield. It’s one of my favourites to sing and dance to, but I promise I will try to keep quiet and sit still!
What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?
My first ever career choice stemmed from the fact I was convinced I would be an awesome tooth fairy, however I’m not sure how that would have worked as I’m a little bigger than the tooth fairy. I then wanted to run a bakery, because I love baking. However, I realised the reality involved lots of early mornings and my pastry was never as good as my Grandmas. She said you needed cold hands and a warm heart, I must have the reverse!
Weirdest place you’ve ever gotten up to mischief (define ‘mischief’ however you like…)
Oh this is tricky, as I’d not really define anywhere as ‘weird’. Seen as I’m often retelling the stories of memorable fucks, I’m definitely defining mischief as such! A sports hall, a train toilet, the back of a flower shop (not good for hay fever suffers) all feature in the more unusual places. I did go down on someone inside a medieval oak tree which you could stand up in for their birthday. Perhaps that’s the most weird!
Tell us two truths and a lie about yourself
I have a phobia of Star Anise.
I tried to slip my number to Gaston in Disneyworld in 2013.
My first ever concert was Meatloaf, with my mum.
Complete the sentence: I want…
(I was trying to think of something witty, or clever, but instead went for the song I sing when I’m at home and anyone mentions beans…)
I want a feast
I want a bean feast
Cream buns and doughnuts
And fruitcake with no nuts
So good you could go nuts!
